Pediatrics

What is Pediatric Occupational Therapy?

Does your child present with any of the following issues?

What is Pediatric Occupational Therapy?

Pediatric OT helps to restore, improve or build new skills that help your child reach independence in areas such as dressing, toileting, and handwriting. Additional motor, cognitive, behavior, balance, and visual skills are required to complete these everyday activities. We break down tasks to identify deficits acting as barriers to independence. There is no task too small or too big for SHARKKS Pediatrics. Not only do we treat your child, we treat the family to ensure the long-term success of treatment.

What is Pediatric Occupational Therapy?

We identify barriers to independence by establishing a comprehensive profile of the patient consisting of medical history, family routines, and motor performance. Occupational therapists assess children's developmental milestones using standardized tests and  clinical observations.

Yes, you can always be present for the session. As a parent, you have the right to be present for any or all therapy sessions.

SHARKKS Therapy is happy to communicate treatment information to both families. We work with all parents to understand everyone's concerns and ensure consistency in treatment strategies to use at home.

Treatment sessions typically range from 30 minutes to 60 minutes. This will be determined during your first evaluation.

We understand changes happen and encourage at least 24-hour notice for cancellations. This allows us to give other patients an opportunity to book an appointment. Cancellations must be at least a 24-hour notice, and if not, there will be a fee ($35 in clinic, and $50 for home visits), excluding DDD patients. DDD patients will be discharged after two no-shows/unexcused cancellations within 30 days.
